KIOI Digital Partners, Inc. (President and Representative Director: Tomohiro Namba) updated its iOS app for the Japanese market, “Ruct,” to version 1.3.0 on October 13, 2026.

Ruct is a location-based social networking service that lets users discover people nearby and the voices of the places around them through everyday posts. It aims to build connections between people, sparked by the things users discover and feel in their familiar neighborhoods and wherever they go.

This update features a redesigned user interface across the entire app, along with expanded per-post location visibility settings and enhanced direct messaging (DM) features.

Key New and Redesigned Features in Version 1.3.0

Redesigned User Interface Across the Entire App

We have revised the screen designs and navigation flows throughout the app, including Home, Post, Map, Profile, and Chat. The experience has been refined to support users in discovering nearby posts, learning about the people who posted them, and starting conversations.

Location Visibility Settings for Each Post

Users can now choose the visibility scope of location information associated with each post, with three options available: “Only Me,” “Friends (Mutual Followers),” and “Everyone.” The visibility scope can also be changed after posting.

This setting determines the visibility scope of location information, such as place names and positions on the map. It does not change the visibility of the post text itself.

Post Locations Are Shown After Five Minutes

The location of a post is displayed to users within the configured visibility scope five minutes after posting. The post text can be published immediately, while location information is shared after a delay.

The location displayed indicates the place where the post was made; it does not continuously share the poster’s current location.

Enhanced DM Features

The app now supports message requests, sending images and videos, the option to turn read receipts on or off, and unsending messages.

Users aged 18 or older who follow each other can start a regular chat; in all other cases, conversations begin with a message request. Unapproved requests are limited to a single text message, and sending images and videos as well as further exchanges become available once the request is approved.

Connecting People Through Nearby Voices

Even among those living in the same town, there are people we never encounter in our daily lives. Through posts made in familiar places and destinations alike, Ruct will continue to provide opportunities for people to get to know one another and start conversations.
